<p>
The Eigth Annual International Dog Biscuit Appreciation Day contest has begun. For years, food has been one of the most popular topics on the Empire's mailing list. Aericans enjoy their food and are endlessly creative in their preparation of it. In celebration of this, the eigth annual IDBAD contest challenges the Aerican people to create new and exciting -- and yet still edible -- food.<P> 
Between March 1st and March 15th, interested citizens are invited to submit a recipe. All recipes will be made publically available.<P>
All recipes will be scored as follows:<BR>
<ul>
<LI>1 point for submitting a complete recipe, including ingredients and instructions
<LI>1 point for submitting images of the finished product
<LI>1 point for submitting images of the finished product alongside an Aerican citizen
<LI>1 point for a gimmick: a funny story behind the recipe, a clever science-fiction referene, etc. 
<LI>1 point for every person who submits a letter to the government confirming they made it and ate it
<LI>No points will be awarded for actual edibility, but it will add to the winner's prestige
</ul>
The recipe that earns the highest score wins. In the event of a tie, citizens will vote for their favourite. <P>
The prize: The winner shall receive their choice of one of three prizes:<BR>
* An Aerican Empire t-shirt from Cafepress<BR>
* Ten copies of the Aerican Empire Gaming Interest Society membership card, to share with your friends<BR>
* An Aerican Empire 2012 coin<P>

Three recipes were submitted.<P>

<B>1) Immoral Almonds</b><BR>
Ingredients: <ul>
<LI>100 g sliced almonds
<LI>1 – 2 crushed fresh garlic teeth
<LI>a little olive oil
<LI>a few drops soy sauce
</ul>
Directions: 
<UL>
<LI>Prepare everything before you start, because it takes only a few seconds.
<LI>Warm olive oil in a saucepan, add garlic and stir, after 2-3 seconds add almonds and keep stirring.
<LI>When pan starts emitting immoral smell (a few seconds) put off the fire, add soy sauce and stir.<BR>
(be careful not to overcook – burned garlic tastes awful)
<LI>serve as is, or over salad (or anything else)

<B>2) Chocolatey Peanut Butter Mug Cake</b><BR>
Ingredients: <ul>
<LI>2 tbps of flour
<LI>2 tbps of peanut butter
<LI>1 egg
<LI>1 teaspoon sugar
<LI>1-2 tbsp chocolate syrup
<LI>A bit of water to help mix
<LI>Marshmallows to taste
</ul>
Directions: 
<UL>
<LI>Mix everything together in a mug
<LI>Microwave for about 80 seconds
<LI>Immediately upon removing from the microwave, stir, while the marshmallows and still melty
</UL>

<B>2) Aerican Atole</b><BR>
Ingredients: <ul>
<LI>1/2 cup corn flour
<LI>5 cups water
<LI>1 tablespoon ground cinnamon 
<LI>5 tablespoons brown sugar
<LI>1 tablespoon vanilla extract
</ul>
Directions: 
<UL>
<LI>Mix water, corn flour, cinnamon, and sugar in a blender. Blend until smooth.
<LI>Pour into a pan and boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. 
<LI>Turn the heat to low and continue to stir for 5 minutes.
<LI>Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla to taste.
<LI>Pour into mugs and serve hot.
</UL>
Story: This is a variation of a traditional South American dessert drink made with corn flour and cinammon. I like this recipe because it incorporates the Aerican colours of red and yellow, although once it's all mixed together it ends up more brown than anything else. This recipe is designed to serve five, because atole is a drink that I think has to be had with other people, never alone. I discovered this recipe after receiving a five-pound bag of corn flour as a gag gift for my birthday... imagine the surprise on everyone's faces when I actually found something to do with it!<BR>
