SENATE ELECTIONS: [January 7]
The end of the current term of the Imperial Senate ended in December, which means it's time to elect a whole new bunch of Senators. As everyone knows, the Senate is the primary legislative body of the Aerican Empire and, while classically not very active, in theory the Senate is the most powerful and interesting body within the Empire. Up for grabs are two seats each in all eleven colonies.

1) Nominations
For the next two weeks, from Saturday January 7 to Saturday January 21, anyone who wishes to may nominate themselves, or someone else, for a seat. If a person is nominated by someone else, they must inform me whether they accept the nomination, or it will be ignored. Anyone can nominate themselves for any seat, even outside of their registered colony, but it must be specified where they wish to run. Nominations may be made publically such as over the mailing list or on the Discord, or privately to the Emperor via the Contact Us Form.

2) Campaigning
For the two weeks between January 21 and February 4, people are welcome to campaign. Posts over the mailing list, links to official campaign websites, catchy or embarrassing YouTube videos, whatever. This should be kept civil; we've never had a serious attack-based campaign and I doubt it would win someone much support.

3) Voting
Official voting will be open from February 4 to February 18th. Votes should be sent to the Emperor via the Contact Us Form or over the mailing list. You may only vote for the seats in your own colony, and votes for other colonies will be disqualified, unless you're running for a seat yourself in another colony in which case of course it's reasonable to vote for yourself. In your ballot, you may vote one of three ways: for one person, against one person, or for "no one" if for some reason you oppose all the choices.
